Home / The Edit Projects Designers Select Vibia Lighting for a Private Villa in Malta Projects Designers Select Vibia Lighting for a Private Villa in Malta On the European island of Malta, Rome-based firm Luca Peralta Studio drew inspiration from stunning sea vistas for its extensive renovation of Villa Rihana, a private residence.© Alexander Serzhantov © Ferenc Horvath Aiming to accentuate the view and blur the boundaries between indoors and out, the home’s design is defined by two horizontal planes that run parallel to the horizon line. © ales&ales The upper plane is a sleek cantilevered roof, while the lower one forms a ground-floor plateau that appears suspended upon the landscape. © ales&ales © ales&ales Together, they create an architectural bookend for the villa, a striking geometric silhouette that unifies the structure’s disparate volumes. © ales&ales The ground level bisects the infinity pool, which is brightened by a pair of Vibia Bamboo floor lamps punctuating the far reaches of the patio. © ales&ales The minimalist fixtures by Antoni Arola and Enric Rodríguez are distinguished by slender stalks that seem to sprout directly out of the ground, recalling the organic form of its namesake plant. © ales&ales © ales&ales The lamps are studded with LED lights along its stem and cast a warm glow across the pool while also doubling as a landscape feature. © ales&ales © ales&ales Nearby, a series of Meridiano lamps are positioned along an exterior walkway. The fixtures by Jordi Vilardell and Meritxell Vidal are formed from an open-slot spherical shade and serve as seating as well as outdoor illumination. © ales&ales An ambient LED shines through Meridiano’s grid and casts a radial pattern of shadow and light on the terrace.
