After an extensive renovation three years ago, the atmospheric Le Petite Epicerie, an indoor-outdoor restaurant in Liege, Belgium, debuted with a distinctive design by Kevin Bona of studio Label5.9. Bona sought a compelling mix of styles blending the structure’s timeless architecture with a modern sensibility. The result? A chic, welcoming look that recalls a relaxed Parisian bistro.

Bordered by a courtyard in the front and a garden in the back, Le Petite Epicerie’s elegant décor features richly veined marble tabletops, antique furnishings, and lighting by Vibia.

The LED-powered Palma pendant by Antoni Arola is suspended overhead in the airy dining room. Inspired by ancient gardens, the lamp connects light and vegetation as in a natural landscape. Two semi-circles of blown glass joined by an aluminum belt accommodate greenery that drapes over its sides, the color picking up the tone of the green-grey walls.

Ideal for dining, the horizontal fixture is positioned on both sides of the room, brightening the tables below. A large mirror on the wall amplifies the pendant’s warm glow of wraparound illumination. Individual Palma lamps also punctuate the wall space, drawing the eye to the modern freehand frescos there.

Adjacent to the dining room, a bar area features another Palma horizontal pendant. A trio of organic orbs create a focal point over the bar outfitted in glossy black tile, its black metal canopy echoing the ebony hue.
