Vibia wins lighting category with Guise at Archiproducts Design Awards 2017

Archiproducts Design Awards has selected the Guise collection, designed by Stefan Diez for Vibia, as its winner this year within the Lighting Category. Guise is a poetic expression of light through a series of transparent objects that emanate an indirect luminous glow, a collection that synthesises craft, light and new technologies. The ADA promotes collaborations between designers and brands with a special emphasis on innovation and aesthetics. The jury is composed of a team selected from over 40 architectural offices, architectural photographers and the Archiproducts staff. This year more than 600 entries were submitted by 300 brands located in 15 countries around the globe.

Each of the elements of the Guise collection features LED technology combined with borosilicate glass. The wall scone version is a crystal disk with a continuous luminous edge detail, the ceiling lamps (which can be vertically or horizontally suspended) and table versions include striations etched into the glass that materialise the light as it passes through it. These striations are very precisely made by robot which combined with the crafted glass disks and tubes make for a highly innovative collection. The lighting intensity is controlled via a sensor that works by proximity without the need to make contact with the glass. These are precisely the qualities that the ADA recognises with the award.
