Home / The Edit News & Events Vibia in 2019: Highlights of the Year True to its ongoing commitment to creativity and innovation, 2019 was marked by major accomplishments and firsts for Vibia. These ranged from a new company headquarters and content blog to publication of two product catalogues and participation in Euroluce. The brand also launched a first-of-its-kind colour tool for design professionals.Vibia’s highlight of the year was the opening of its 16,000-square-meter headquarters in Gavà, near downtown Barcelona. Both a creative design centre and functional workspace, it encompasses the company’s corporate offices, showroom, and factory. The sleekly sophisticated showroom, designed by Fransesc Rifé Studios, spans more than 2,000 square meters and displays Vibia’s lighting collections in artistic vignettes—spare, semi-open architectural spaces exhibited in a gallery setting. The showroom is the heart of the headquarters, a meeting point and a dedicated place for collaboration and inspiration with our design partners. Since opening, Vibia has hosted close to 1,000 visitors from around the globe. Vibia also released two general catalogues this year—one targeted to the United States and Canada, another for the rest of the world. Featuring hundreds of pages of unparalleled product and imagery, the catalogues showcase the company’s commitment to transparency and collaboration in its partnerships with the world’s finest designers. An additional 2019 highlight was Vibia’s participation in Euroluce, the world’s premier lighting exhibition. Thousands of attendees visited the brand’s booth, where 10 new collections from acclaimed international designers were unveiled. The event further reinforced Vibia’s role as a leading innovator in lighting design. Vibia also debuted The Edit in 2019. Filled with ideas and inspiration, the content blog brings the world of lighting and design to life with original, compelling stories. The Edit features projects by top designers, the short documentary series ‘Conversations’ with interior design and architecture professionals, lighting solutions and tips for every space, as well as the latest design news. Another exciting initiative this year was the introduction of Vibia’s “Design Challenges.” To connect with the next generation of design leaders, the company invites students from design schools in Barcelona to visit the showroom and tour the lighting collections. The students then break into small groups and create their own applications of Vibia fixtures using our project personalization software. Finally, they present their ideas to the group and the Vibia team for discussion and debate. In the fall of 2019, Vibia introduced Chromatica, a cutting-edge “colour system” created in collaboration with Stockholm-based Note Design Studio. Based on a palette of 23 hues—including dark, vibrant, neutral and light shades—it complements the materials commonly found in design projects, helping to create timeless, visual impressions. Chromatica offers endless creative possibilities and represents a vital tool for inspiring and assisting designers and architects.
