Layers of Light: Introducing the Flat Floor Lamp

The Flat floor lamp is designed by Ichiro Iwasaki and features distinctive, disc-shaped diffusers that produce horizontal planes of light. Indirect and ambient, the light reflects off the plates, casting an enveloping, wrap-around glow.

A study in geometry, the floor lamp’s sculptural spheres are held aloft by lean lines rising from an angular base. The minimalist forms achieve maximum function as each streamlined plate contains and directs the light, appearing illuminated from within. Delicate in design and graphic and character, they display Iwasaki’s signature aesthetic.

The floor lamp comes in small and large sizes, with a single or double sphere—either a compact disc or a shelf-like plate that doubles as furniture. When deployed in pairs, the smaller, complementary disc captures and reflects light back towards the larger one, creating pockets of soft, pooled light that illuminates the space and the surface itself.

Available in four subdued finishes—white, green, terracotta, and black—the fixture seamlessly integrates into any space, lending a soothing, Zen sensibility.
