Sticks Collection Brightens a Company’s Headquarters in Switzerland

An historic industrial castle in Neuhausen, Switzerland, on the Rhine Falls was the site of a full renovation of Sig corporate headquarters. Shaffhouse-based architecture firm Dost Architektur GmbH completed the project for the aseptic packaging company, reimagining its interior with flowing spaces that facilitate interaction and teamwork.

Lofty, open rooms feature minimalist modern furnishings in a subdued palette of white, black, and brown, while glass doors and soaring ceilings enhance the feeling of fluidity between offices and floors.

For lighting, the designers selected Vibia’s Sticks collection. Designed by Arik Levy, Sticks offers a creative toolkit for integrating light into a space. It fuses technology, space, and architecture with sleek aluminum rods that transform linear light into floating sculpture. The sticks, which come in three sizes and can be combined in custom arrangements, rotate on their own axis, allowing light to be directed precisely where needed.

In the lobby, a Sticks installation traces a three-dimensional outline that defines the reception desk. One rod is suspended from the ceiling to accentuate the height, connecting at its base to another rod that juts out horizontally into space. A third stick runs left along the length of the desk, creating a boundary that draws the eye to the central spot.

Several Sticks arrangements brighten the kitchen area. On one end, a Sticks composition forms an illuminated bracket against the wall and then cantilevers towards the center of room like a perimeter around the seating area.

Another installation stationed over a table and chairs features a rod reaching upwards in a seamless connection to the floor above, joined with horizontal sticks floating in midair at a right angle to enclose the table.

By the door to the Sig library, a single Sticks rod stands sentry. Lean and elegant, the simple vertical line highlights the entrance with refined style, its black finish echoing the color of the ornate staircase.

In the landing areas of the stairway the designers positioned Sticks in an open parallelogram to mark the spot and encourage communal gatherings.
