Brightening Restaurants With Vibia Lighting

In Colico, a town on Italy’s Lake Como, designer Fabio Gianoli created the dramatic interior of the Japanese restaurant called Kanto Feeling Experience.

Adorned with gold-finished iron tubes, mirrored walls, and moody colours, the bar features cozy marble tables complemented by Vibia’s Flamingo hanging lamp. The luminaire by Antoni Arola boasts a deconstructed design that recalls a bird hovering overhead, its exotic look in keeping with the mood of the restaurant. Hanging low near the table, Flamingo reinforces the bar’s intimate feel as it casts diffuse gradations of soothing light.

The design of Taizu restaurant in Tel Aviv was the brainchild of Amit Design Studio and Pitsou Kedem Architects. Featuring a Southeast Asian menu, the interior was inspired by the five elements of ancient Chinese philosophy—fire, water, metal, wood, and earth.

In the lounge area, bar stools pair with a large, custom-made slate table, nodding to communal street food settings in Asia. Here, a trio of Match pendants zig zag across the room. Designed by Jordi Vilardell and Meritxell Vidal, the lamps consist of slim metal rods tipped with LEDs. The jagged geometric forms have a futuristic feel, drawing the eye to the tables below in a dramatic and sculptural focal point.

Palo Verde restaurant in Barcelona features a barbeque tapas menu and rustic-modern design marked by exposed stone walls, wooden tables, and streamlined silhouettes. In the front, small bar tables are brightened by Lievore Altherr’s Tempo hanging lamp. Suspended from a cable, the pendant features a round blown-glass bulb affixed to a spare, disc-shaped shade. The sleek aluminum diffuser picks up the colour of the chairs and plays counterpoint to the wood tables in a compelling contrast of tone and texture.

At the Activ Hotel Rosat in the Dolomites region of Italy, Luca Donnazzolo Architects designed a restaurant that celebrates its natural mountain setting. Richly grained wooden floors, cabinets, and tables take center stage in the minimalist space. Illuminating the interior is the Wireflow Free-Form hanging lamp by Arik Levy.

Utilitarian black electrical cables capped with LEDs stretch across the ceiling then drop down in striking right angles. Distilled to their essence, they offer a powerful graphic presence while allowing the earthy atmosphere to prevail.
