How to compose with Dama?

Dama’s delicate silhouette reimagines the classic lampshade with the refined aesthetics of contemporary lighting design. Designed by Palomba Serafini Associati, its paper shade and slender architecture convey an ethereal lightness, appearing to gently float in space. Within the Composing Pendants system, Dama’s graceful volumes can be installed individually or in balanced configurations, adapting to the needs and scale of each project. With seamless connectivity and unlimited creative freedom, light becomes a fluid, emotional gesture, a serene companion for the intimate moments of everyday life.

Dama is distinguished by the refinement of its proportions and the lightness of its lines. The collection is held in a dialogue between formal reduction and emotional resonance, its materiality essential to achieving this balance. The exposed aluminium structure becomes a defining feature, outlining the edge of the shade with precision.

Dama’s paper shade is both serene and tactile; a curled strip of parchment suspended from a micro-thin cable, taking on a sense of fragility through gentle vibrations. More than a diffuser, the shade acts as a luminous membrane, its translucency creating an atmosphere of warmth and softness thanks to a circular, glare-free LED that glows from within.

Integrated into the Composing Pendants system, Dama is liberated from the restraints of traditional lighting. A single luminaire can gently drift across a space, or several luminaires can be connected to the same power source, enabling technically and visually coherent compositions.

Suspended at varying levels, Dama traces a delicate language of lines and luminous circles, the repetition of volumes introducing rhythm and structure. For suspended ceilings, remote and built-in fittings accentuate the sense of lightness, clean connections enhancing the purity of the design.

When drop ceilings are not available, surface and free-wire connections provide a clean and flexible solution, enabling individual or cluster arrangements that can be tailored to any setting. Playing with composition, designers can create elegant, intimate scenarios, the cables directing the gaze and enhancing spatial flow.

Available in two neutral finishes—black or beige—the pendant adapts to a wide range of residential and hospitality spaces where intimate, elegant lighting is desired. A single luminaire descends lightly into a quiet waiting area, lending the space a cosy, subdued atmosphere; a row of pendants suspended low over a dining table enhances the surrounding textures of wood and exposed brick; dotted throughout a restaurant or hotel lounge, Dama captivates guests with its refined, inviting illumination. When combined with the floor and table versions, the compositional possibilities are infinite.
