A fully integrated interior design project with its architectural expression where the collection designed by Toan Nguyen creates different lighting scenes that transform it from a sculptural, subtle and delicate element during the daytime; into a more sensual, warm and surround lighting by night. The interior designer Cristina Casals, who through her own practice creates spaces for her clients that respond to their functional needs as well as their personalities and preferences, she is the author of this interior design project for the main living floor and the exterior of this house in Sitges. A considered interior design approach that integrates all the spaces, which, as the interior designer herself explains, “blends and harmonises with an architecture defined by its horizontal lines and façades made of natural stone that also clad the interior walls.” Casals takes advantage of the physical location of the house, within a privileged area of Sitges, offering spectacular views over the sea, to take maximum advantage of the available light. An approach to both natural and artificial lighting that she considers indispensable for drawing attention to its textures and materials, while also providing a unique experience for users. “With this project I looked for a lighting that goes beyond the simply practical by adding a sophistication and warmth with which different ambiences are created through light that respond to the needs of that moment,” the designer outlines, having chosen Algorithm for illuminating two of the most important spaces within the home. Designed by Toan Nguyen for Vibia the Algorithm collection blends beauty and geometry to adapt to the architecture of each space using a combination of different suspended light fittings. Together as a group, or individually they sketch volumes and flowing planes, they allow the imagination to flow and create personalised configurations. For the living room Casals chose a composition featuring five spheres suspended at different heights: elegant, delicate and marking a subtle contrast with the strong volumes of the kitchen. During the day, the light works as a decorative sculpture, which visually integrates with the space without dominating it; while at night it becomes a sensory element, providing a warm and enveloping light, around which an intimate and warm ambience emerges. The bedroom suite, marked by a central bedhead volume that generates and defines the different uses while still maintaining the constant visual presence of the Mediterranean, features two Algorithm lights of a single sphere each that hang delicately from the ceiling. Practically imperceptible during the day, at night they emerge like as two small globes that float in the air and encourage sleep to descend. “It’s not the first time that I have worked with Vibia, and I will continue to do so with my next projects,” adds Casals, who is now working on new jobs that will include an Array XL in a double height space which, according to the author herself “will be spectacular.” Credits: – Interior Design: Cristina Casals – Photography: Txus Garcia Discover Algorithm Share on Facebook Twitter Linkedin Pinterest Pinterest You may also like...
