Deconstructing light: Introducing Flamingo Mini

An extension of the work of Antoni Arola, Flamingo Mini presents a dynamic, lightweight silhouette with an intriguing allure. Its deconstructed design separates an LED light source from multiple layers of translucent polycarbonate diffusers.

By separating the light source from the diffusers, light is projected onto each shade rather than surrounding the source, resulting in an ethereal, weightless effect. The diffusers come in various shapes and sizes and can be assembled into unique arrangements, adapting to the proportions of any space, depending on the light required.

Embracing simplicity, Flamingo Mini is both concise and visually compelling. Its small-scale silhouette makes it the ideal solution for low ceiling applications and residential properties where the Flamingo is perhaps too large.

The LED performs like a spotlight, directed upwards to produce ambient layers of indirect light suitable for living spaces, or downwards for more focused, intimate illumination, for example, over a dining table.

A key aspect of the design is Arola’s exploration of tension and balance, dissecting the space with stainless steel rods to create a dynamic interplay between sleek horizontal planes and sharp vertical lines.
