The Orac Experience: The Art of Atmosphere Design

Orac Decor opens its first international showroom in Barcelona, designed by The Room Studio. Showcasing the latest trends in the sector, the Orac Experience Center is a revolutionary meeting point for sector professionals designed as an immersive interior design experience. Redefining the traditional showroom concept, each space is meticulously designed to blend technology and tradition, innovation and decoration, with Vibia selected to provide the lighting throughout the entire project.

“Vibia’s pure and simple forms,
without ornaments, fit perfectly with the aesthetics we were looking for.”

Meritxell Ribé and Josep Puigdomenech, The Room Studio

Exposing the different Orac Decor products in a completely unexpected way, the Room Studio creates a sophisticated staging, where six different atmospheres and environments can be found, each one with its own independent personality. Monochromatic rooms with simple, elegant lighting ensure a visual balance, while guaranteeing that the product always takes centre stage.

Upon entering the Orac Experience Center, “The Cave” makes a bold statement. Clad in nude colour, its sound-absorbing acoustic mouldings create a subdued atmosphere, forming a rib-like tunnel that’s visible from the street outside. A pair of Musa table lamps by Note Design Studio draw visitors deep into the space, attracting the eye towards the reception desk due to their delicate and natural form. Like a shell cradling a pearl, Musa complements the cave’s organic aesthetic, projecting an intimate light, soft and rounded, without being too direct.

“The Exhibition Room” showcases Orac’s most iconic mouldings and cornices in an elegant and sober environment. On one side, three screens offer a unique audiovisual experience; on the other, a row of sleek black tables are adorned with a set of Africa table lamps. Designed by Francisco Gómez Paz and shaped from a single unit of pure aluminium, Africa’s mono-materiality lends it a textured weight and sculptural quality that matches the surrounding decor. Combining richness of form with focused, high-flow illumination, each lamp generates a micro space within a space, transforming the tables into pockets of interest.

“The Immersive Room” returns to monochrome, this time in green, highlighting Orac products alongside cutting-edge audiovisual experiences. Suspended from the ceiling by a slim cable, a Vibia pendant enhances the vertical strokes of the moulding that decorates one of the bathrooms. Exploring the effects of translucency, Tempo by Lievore Altherr evolves the classic bistrot globe into a delicate milk-glass oval. Reflected in the mirror, it lends a sense of tranquillity, its nostalgic silhouette projecting a nuanced 360 degree glow.

The work of Stefan Diez, Plusminus creates an atmosphere of informality that matches the general warmth of “Le Club”, a comfortable space designed for VIP events. Reimagining the use of the canopy, it illuminates the central table in relaxed arcs, its graphic presence and matte-black finish contrasting with the soft-beige surroundings.

Multiple spherical luminaries are connected to its distinctive textile belt, which flows in and out of various fasteners from a single electrical connection component, forming a single dynamic installation.

Instinctively coherent with “Le Club’s” simple elegance, The Room Studio opts for Vibia’s North Floor lamp to illuminate the sofa arrangement. Designed by Arik Levy, this distinctive double fixture is anchored to the floor by a weighted base.

A conical shade containing a light source hangs from the tip of a slender carbon fibre rod in a dynamic system of adjustable parts. The angle of each shade creates a focused pool of downlight, while the slant of the rods trace elegant lines across the space.

A small patio with natural light pays homage to Barcelona, featuring hydraulic tile flooring with green and terracotta tones. Designed by Ramón Esteve and inspired by the Japanese art of paper folding, Origami offers gentle exterior illumination while doubling up as a striking art installation. Constructed to climb like ivy, light gently radiates out from the edges of each sculptural form, creating a play of shadows across the wall.

Moving up the stairs, you reach the office area, where Orac’s signature colours are subtly integrated into the shelving units, leaving the majority of the walls beige. A pair of Duo ceiling lamps by Ramos & Bassols bring natural warmth to an intimate meeting room.

Crafted in veined oak and matte-lacquered aluminium, their gently curved form mirrors the curved cornices and decorative Orac moulding, their supple wood-finished interiors exuding a soothing, enveloping sensibility.

A separate office space is brought to life by a distinctive pendant from Sebastian Herkner. Consisting of an elegant linear framework that supports a voluminous cylindrical diffuser, Kontur envelops the light source it contains. Suspended from micro-thin cables, its curved volume hovers delicately above the heavy wood desk, offering intimate, balanced illumination.

And finally, a single Mayfair table lamp lends a secluded coffee table a neat and polished look. Pairing sleek aesthetics with advanced technology, Mayfair modernises the iconic 19th-century bouillotte lamp. Designed by Diego Fortunato, its slender profile and glossy copper finish contrast with the textured armchair and intensify the vertical strokes of the adjacent Orac moulding.

“We selected Vibia products for their ability to create refined spaces, their ability to focus the light in an excellent way and their adaptability to the home automation system integrated throughout the space.”
